What we do
with your data

Anchor Point is made by one person, and this page is written the same way the devlogs are: plainly, and without hiding anything in a paragraph you were not meant to read.

The short version: the only personal thing this site ever asks for is an email address, and the only reason it asks is to tell you when you can play. Nothing is sent to it until you confirm you want it. It is never sold, never shared, and one click in any email takes you off the list.

What we collect

Two things, and nothing else.

  • Your email address, if — and only if — you type it into the waitlist form and press the button. The form has exactly one real field. There is a second, hidden field that only automated spam bots ever fill in; anything submitted through it is discarded. Nothing is added to the mailing list until you click the link in the confirmation email we send, so an address typed by someone else never ends up receiving anything.
  • Anonymous page statistics, through Plausible Analytics. Plausible is cookieless and does not collect personal data or build a profile of you: it counts page views, referrers and countries in aggregate. That is why this site has no cookie banner — it sets no cookies of its own.

We do not ask for your name, your age, or anything else. There is no account to create, no login, and no tracking pixels from advertising networks. As with any website, the host also keeps ordinary server request logs (things like IP address and browser) for security and troubleshooting.

Why we collect it

The first email you get is the confirmation, and it is the only one we send to an address that has not confirmed. After that, the address exists so that we can tell you three things: when public playtests open, when the game launches, and occasionally what has been built in between. That is the whole list. It is not used for advertising, it is not sold, and it is not handed to any third party for their own purposes.

The statistics exist so a solo developer can tell which pages are worth writing more of.

Where it lives

  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit) holds the waitlist and sends the mail. Kit is a United States company, so your address is stored there. It also records the date you confirmed, which is the record of you having asked to be on the list.
  • Netlify hosts this site and receives the form submission on its way to Kit. If Kit cannot be reached, the address is held by Netlify instead until it can be added. Netlify, Inc. is also based in the United States.
  • Plausible processes the page statistics and stores them in the EU.

All three are used as service providers: they hold the data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own ends.

How long we keep it

Your email stays on the waitlist until you ask for it to be removed, or until twelve months after the game reaches Early Access — whichever comes first. After that the list has done its job and is deleted. Page statistics are aggregate and are not tied to a person, so there is nothing in them to delete.

Your rights

Whale Dev Studios is based in Istanbul, Türkiye, so Turkish data protection law (KVKK) applies; if you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR applies to you as well. Under both, you can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you;
  • correct it if it is wrong;
  • delete it;
  • send you a copy of it;
  • stop using it.

There is no form to fill in and no hoop to jump through. Email us and we will do it, and we will not ask you why.

Leaving the waitlist

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link in its footer. One click removes you — no confirmation loop, no "are you sure", no retention offer.

If you would rather not click a link in an email, write to ekinarca40@gmail.com — that address is a link that opens a message with the subject already filled in — and we will do it by hand.

Never confirming works too: an address that is never confirmed is never mailed again, and is cleared out with the rest.

Who to contact

Anchor Point is developed by Ekin Arca at Whale Dev Studios, a one-person studio in Istanbul, Türkiye. Anything on this page — questions, corrections, deletion requests — goes to ekinarca40@gmail.com and reaches the developer directly.

Changes to this page

If what we do with your data changes, this page changes with it and the date below changes too. The page is versioned in the site's public repository, so its history is a matter of record rather than a claim.
